Men have approximately 2x higher incidence of fatty liver than women
- Men exhibit increased visceral fat deposition, lack estrogen receptors, and tend to synthesize fatty acids into fat storage
- But development of fatty liver is faster in post menopausal women, because of rapid estrogen decrease
